About the couple
Adrienne & Kellen were absolutely wonderful to work with and photograph. They 100% planned their wedding during the pandemic, and I’m so grateful to Danielle with Ohana Events for connecting us. We of course first met over Zoom, but as we got to know one another I could tell we were a great match. With the weather getting warmer, and the world opening up, we finally got to meet in person for their engagement session (Graceland Cemetery / North Ave Beach). It was a blast and nice to finally meet a client in person! Click here to see the photos.
Photographing a Stockhouse Chicago wedding
The weather for their early April wedding was absolutely perfect! Sunny and 70, and after a long winter it was fantastic to photograph the wedding party outside. They did their first look outside the Rookery Building in downtown Chicago. I’ve photographed at this venue many times, but the only first look I’ve done there. Witnessing and documenting this deeply emotionally moment for them truly set the tone for the day. They have an easy and fun chemistry and I found moments between them a lot of fun to capture. The wedding party then joined us for photographs in front of the Board of Trade. It’s a classic Chicago scene…and important to Kellen since he works nearby.
We then traveled to Ping Tom Park in the Chinatown neighborhood. It was my first time photographing there, and I have to say it’s my new favorite. Between the riverfront walkways, views of downtown, natural areas and street art, there is so much to do and a wide variety of amazing backdrops.
The venue was actually close by, a new space called The Stockhouse. It’s on the top floor of one of the tallest buildings in the area, and the rooftop has a perfect view of skyline. Inside is very cool loft space, and Ohana Events, Ashland Addison, Tablescapes and Chicago Vintage Weddings made it absolutely beautiful. Although their guest list is on the smaller side due to covid restrictions, you could tell their community really showed up for them. A close friend was their officiant, which is one of my favorite kind of ceremonies to photograph. Their speeches during the reception were also equally full of laughter and tears.
I cannot thank Adrienne & Kellen enough for making me a part of their wedding day. It was an amazing reminder of how much I miss photographing and connecting with my clients!
