Photographing a Chicago engagement session
The weather is finally getting warmer, and it was a ton of fun to get outside and photograph Jenny & Marc’s engagement session! It was the perfect blend of some classic Chicago locations, while also telling a part of their personal story. We started off in the Fulton Market neighborhood, which is a fantastic area for inspiring street art. The multi colored concentric circles is one of my favorites. The murals are constantly changing, so I hope it doesn’t go away too soon.
However the main reason we chose to start in Fulton was to hit Jeni’s Ice Cream on Randolph….the couple’s first date spot. I always like incorporating a client’s story as couple in my engagement sessions. Could be where they first met, their first date, or simply a place they like to spend time together. For Jenny & Marc it was all about the ice cream. To be honest I had never had Jeni’s before, and they insisted on buying me a small cup of their dark chocolate. Too good.
We then headed to another favorite location of mine….Milton Olive Park near Navy Pier. The city recently updated the surround park, so now there’s so much to photograph in the area. This particular location overlooks Ohio Street Beach and offers a very cool view of the skyline and Lake Michigan. It’s a wonderful place to be when the sun is setting, and we got lucky to catch some color in the sky.
Thank you to Jenny & Marc for being so awesome to photograph. Looking forward to their upcoming wedding at City Winery!
