Photographing a Chicago engagement photo session
Photographing Adrienne & Kellen’s engagement session was a welcome breath of fresh air. After a long winter it was fantastic to get outside on a warm spring day and make images.
It’s a given that I end up going to familiar locations around the city with my clients, but I’m always interested in a place I haven’t been. Adrienne mentioned she lived near Graceland Cemetery and that her and Kellen like to take walks there. I jumped at the idea of starting the session there, and it did not disappointment. It was a beautiful and sunny day in March, and photographing the couple amongst the landscape and mausoleums was amazing. They have a fun loving nature and it’s incredibly fun to photograph a couple with so many moments between them.
After the cemetery closed, we made our way down to North Avenue Beach for an outfit change and sunset photos. It’s an iconic location, and it was great to approach the space with fresh eyes. I wanted to create something unique for the couple by taking some angles I normally don’t.
I cannot thank Adrienne & Kellen enough for making the shoot so much fun. Looking forward to their wedding this April at the Stockhouse!
