Photographing a Geraghty Chicago wedding
Photographing Kacie & Varun’s wedding was an absolute joy. Honestly they were one of my favorite couples to work with (click here to check out their engagement photos). Their wedding day blended both the classic and creative, and truly took us around the city. We started off with getting ready photos and the first look at the JW Marriott. An ideal hotel since it’s beautiful on it’s own, as well as being located near the Chicago Board of Trade, our first stop with the wedding party. You have to be careful with the traffic, but the views down LaSalle Street are a Chicago classic.
When then dropped by Chicago Union Station. The weather ended up working out for us, but if you are in search for a plan B, the Great Hall is a great indoor photo location. Both grand staircases are stunning, and just outside amongst the columns also offer some interesting perspectives. Our last stop before ceremony was the Pilsen neighborhood. The couple has a mutual love for art, and wanted to feature some of the street murals in the area. Along the train tracks on 16th Street from about Morgan to Wood are successive paintings. I had a blast photographing the wedding party there, and to any perspective couples, I would love to go back.
Both the ceremony and reception were hosted at The Geraghty owned by Kehoe Designs. If you’re planning a large event, and want the freedom to design your own space, then I can’t recommend this venue enough. The decor was absolutely unbelievable and it was one heck of a party. A shout out to Lindsay and Gina with the Simply Elegant Group for introducing me to the couple, and for brining everything together so smoothly. I cannot thank Kacie & Varun enough for allowing me to be a part of their wedding day!
