One thing that struck me about Anna & Chris is how stylish they are. I really wanted that to come through in their engagement photos, and I had a great time putting together a plan with them. This is one of the few sessions where using their wedding venue really made sense (Venue Six10 on Michigan Avenue). It was the perfect way to get a feel for the space, since it's newer in the wedding market and I had yet to shoot there. It's exceptionally modern, with clean lines and views of the lakefront. The building is very much a blank canvas, so I'm looking forward to seeing what Anna & Chris do with the space. From there we made a quick stop at Afterwords bookstore on Illinois Street, a favorite of the couple, before heading to the Fulton Market neighborhood. From brick walls, to alley ways, to colorful doorways, to the skyline and train tracks, that area of the city offers such a wide variety of backdrops. This is especially true around the Mars Gallery (blue & red walls). We ended our session at The Betty, a high-end cocktail lounge and restaurant. It sounds a little awful, but the Coffee & Cigarettes is an outstanding drink. It was pretty chilly that day, so I want to thank Anna & Chris for braving the elements and making their session great!
