Photographing a downtown Chicago engagement session
Very much looking forward to photographing Jessica & Michael’s mini-wedding this weekend, so I wanted to share their engagement photos!
I had an absolutely blast photographing their engagement session. We hit many of my favorites spots around Chicago. Kicked things off at the Art Institute of Chicago South Garden. Definitely a popular location, but it remains a quite respite from busy Michigan Avenue. I quickly realized how much these two like to goof off and laugh with one another, which as a photographer is really all I need for great moments. Next we hit up the historic State Street Bridge overlooking the Chicago River. Another icon that I photograph often, however Jessica & Michael were brave enough to climb on top of the iron supports. Not for everyone, but it does offer a perfect view of the buildings looking down the river. As with many of my sessions, I really like to end with the skyline at sunset. One amazing spot with views of the Hancock Building is Oak Street Beach and Milton Olive Park. Can’t recommend it enough, especially in the late summer / early fall. The light is perfect.
Again, the couple was absolutely wonderful to photograph. Although they can’t host their full wedding this year, I’m truly excited for their more intimate backyard event!
