Photographing a Bridgeport Art Center Wedding
Photographing a wedding is always a unique experience, but when you have a couple as fun and easy-going as Sam & Kirby, it becomes even more enjoyable. As a wedding photographer, capturing the special moments of a couple's big day is a huge responsibility, and I'm so grateful to have been a part of theirs.
The day started at the Hyatt House Hotel, where Sam and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The atmosphere was full of energy and excitement, and I knew that this wedding was going to be a blast. Sam and her bridesmaids were all so funny and easy to be aroudn, which made for some great photo opportunities.
The first look took place on the top floor terrace of the hotel, which offered a stunning view of the Willis Tower. It was a perfect spot for Sam & Kirby to have a private moment before the ceremony. I honestly can’t recommend doing a first look more. The couple gets to have a moment to themselves, it takes the pressure off the ceremony, and the best part, all the photos are done ahead of time, so they get to enjoy the party! Seeing their reactions to each other was heartwarming and perfect, and capturing those moments was truly special.
From there, we headed to Ping Tom Park in Chinatown for some epic shots of the couple and the wedding party against the backdrop of the city skyline. The park's unique beauty, combined with the iconic Chicago skyline, made for some breathtaking photos. We also took advantage of the red boardwalk along the Chicago River, which was a perfect spot for the bride and groom to take a leisurely stroll.
Next, we headed to the Bridgeport Art Center, a spacious and iconic venue with an old warehouse "brick & timber" feel to it. The top floor Skyline Loft is simply stunning and provided the perfect backdrop for Sam & Kirby's Jewish ceremony. It was sweet, hilarious, and emotional all at once.
As the night went on, the couple's true colors really shone through on the dance floor, and their hora was one of the more epic I've photographed. The energy was contagious, and it was hard not to dance along while capturing it all.
Overall, Sam & Kirby's wedding was a beautiful and memorable day. It was an honor to capture these special moments for them and to be a part of their celebration. As a wedding photographer, there's nothing quite like the feeling of capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments that the couple will treasure for years to come.
