Photographing an Adler Planetarium wedding

With a couple as energetic, vibrant, warm, and welcoming as Chereesca and Chris, you can imagine their whole wedding day was wonderful to photograph. Their Adler Planetarium Chicago wedding was filled with unconventional ideas, electrifying color, and unique moments that really reflect who they are as people.

Best wedding day moments

Although the weather was a challenge that day, we were able to get some stunning shots outside for their first look and with their wedding party. However on our way to the Art Institute to snap some shots, it started raining. But if you think these two let that stop them from taking photos outside, think again! I love that these two were up for anything. They braved the rain under the umbrella and we actually got some of our favorite portraits.

One of the best moments of the day actually happened during the ceremony, when Chereesca actually hired an actor friend to dressed as a monkey to surprise Chris during the ceremony. It stemmed from an inside joke from when they were planning their wedding. Honestly when wild moments like that happen, I love to role with it.

In addition to the stunning views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan, Laura Reitsma with Fierce Productions knocked it out of the park in bringing the couple’s unique vision to life. From the cake to the place settings to the floral design, it all was thematic — and totally them.

From beginning to end, there wasn’t a dull moment and it was such a pleasure to capture it all. Thanks to Chereesca and Chris for letting me capture their wedding day!
