Photography a Joinery Chicago Wedding
Today, I want to share with you an incredible wedding that I had the privilege of photographing. Meet Priya and Jeff, a couple whose love and resilience really shone through on their special day, even when the weather seemed determined to get in the way. As a Chicago wedding photographer, I'm always ready to adapt to any situation, and this wedding was a perfect example of how to handle a day when the weather doesn't cooperate.
We started the day at the bride's parents' home in the Streeterville neighborhood. Amidst the laughter, tears, and tender moments, I captured the raw emotions that filled the room. It was a beautiful prelude to what was about to unfold.
Next up was the highly anticipated first look, set against the elegant backdrop of the Ambassador Chicago. However, Mother Nature had other plans, and raindrops started to fall. But no worries, because we quickly shifted gears and moved the first look inside the groom’s hotel suite. I couldn’t have worked out better, as the suite offered beautiful window light for the couple. Sometimes, the unexpected turns out to be even better than the original plan.
After gathering the wedding party, we ventured to the Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk for some outdoor photos. This iconic location is a favorite among couples, and it's easy to see why. Despite the persistent rain when we arrived, I always come prepared for days like this with a set of large white umbrellas for the wedding party. However, much to our delight, the rain suddenly subsided, giving us the freedom to explore the boardwalk and natural beauty of the park.
Before heading to the ceremony venue, we made a quick stop at the vibrant and fun Chicago Mural in Logan Square. I love this location since it adds a splash of color and an urban setting to the couple’s wedding photos.
Finally, we arrived at The Joinery Chicago, tucked away in the Bucktown neighborhood, for the ceremony and reception. This intimate venue was the ideal setting for their smaller wedding. It was also my first time photographing a Bengali wedding. One of reasons I love my job is I get to learn about and capture such a variety of wedding traditions from around the world.
To everyone's delight, the rain decided to take yet another break just as Priya and Jeff walked down the aisle. The timing couldn't have been more perfect, allowing the couple and their guests to enjoy their cocktail hour outside in the Joinery’s courtyard.
The reception was an absolute blast to photograph, filled with heartfelt toasts from family and friends that left everyone in stitches. As the evening progressed, the dance floor ignited with energy, resulting in an epic dance party that had everyone on their feet.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Priya and Jeff for entrusting me with the privilege of documenting their wedding day. Their love, resilience, and ability to embrace every unexpected twist made this wedding a truly memorable experience.
If you're planning your own wedding, take a page from Priya and Jeff's book. Embrace the unexpected, go with the flow, and cherish every moment. Remember, it's your love story, and nothing—not even a rainy day in Chicago—can dampen the magic that unfolds on your wedding day.
