Kathleen & Teddy are a warm, funny, welcoming and high-energy couple, whose wedding at St. Vincent de Paul and the Knickerbocker Hotel, was the perfect end to my 2014 season. I truly couldn't have hoped for better. This may have been my last wedding of the year, but it was my first time at these locations. St. Vincent de Paul is an absolutely stunning church, much like Holy Name or St. Clement. You need to be brave (and flexible) when planning a winter wedding, especially in Chicago. We initially planned on shooting inside Union Station, but unfortunately it was booked with an event. Thankfully the weather worked out, so instead we stopped outside the Civic Opera Building for bridal party photos. The Knickerbocker's Georgian Crystal Ballroom is truly breath taking. The lighted floor was actually built in the 1920's, not the 70's as you might think, and made the reception photos a ton of fun to shoot. Personally I love documenting what I consider classic Chicago weddings, which blend both the old and new worlds (in this case, the old world being Italy). It's great to see guests of all ages participating in ethnic dances, and this time I learned what a Italian tarantella was. I cannot thank Kathleen & Teddy enough for having me. I wish them, and all my clients, a wonderful 2015!
